From logistics operations to software
Before he wrote software full time, Tony Sterlin Cantave spent more than 15 years in delivery and logistics operations. That work covered dispatch, route planning and time sensitive deliveries, and much of it happened on the systems side. He worked on dispatch automation, helped integrate ERP and SAP systems into daily production and shipping work, and diagnosed equipment problems on the floor. Those jobs taught him that a process is only as good as the people and data flowing through it, a lesson he still applies every time he designs a feature. He writes about that move in What Logistics and Manufacturing Taught Me About Building Software.
Founder of Local Flyer Ads
Today Tony runs Local Flyer Ads, a Connecticut digital screen advertising network. The network places 10 inch Android screens inside busy local businesses such as barbershops and laundromats, so nearby shops can reach customers where they already spend time. Ad spots cost $199 a month with no setup fee, run month to month, and are limited to one business per category per neighborhood. The network is launching first in New Haven, with Bridgeport next.
Tony is also building the screen management software that runs it. The software schedules ads, shows which screens are online, and confirms that each spot actually played. Read more on the Connecticut page and the projects page.
AI model evaluation
Alongside Local Flyer Ads, Tony Sterlin Cantave works as a freelance AI model evaluator through Handshake AI. He scores AI generated images, video, audio and interfaces against structured rubrics, and he writes and debugs Python and JavaScript samples used to train and benchmark large language models. That work sharpened his habit of judging output against clear criteria instead of gut feeling, a theme that runs through his posts on prompts, testing and data validation.
Education and certifications
Tony holds an associate degree from Charter Oak State College and five CompTIA certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+ and CySA+. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science and plans to study law. The certifications page explains what each one covers and how he uses it, and his resume lists his full work history.
