What Tony Cantave Is Working On Now
Updated November 2026
This is a now page: a short, honest snapshot of where Tony Cantave is spending his time this season. It changes as priorities change, so it is the best place to check before reaching out about a project.
Launching Local Flyer Ads in New Haven
The biggest focus is getting Local Flyer Ads running in New Haven. That means placing 10 inch Android screens in busy local businesses such as barbershops and laundromats, signing up the first advertisers at $199 a month, and keeping to the one business per category per neighborhood rule. Bridgeport comes next. Every new advertiser gets a photo of their ad running live on day one, so the launch is as much about follow through as it is about selling. More on the Connecticut page.
Building the screen management software
Behind the screens is software Tony is writing himself. Right now the work is on scheduling ads, showing which screens are online and confirming that each spot actually played. Reliable proof of play matters more than new features, because it is what lets a small business owner trust the results. Related code is on the projects page.
AI model evaluation
Tony continues freelance AI model evaluation through Handshake AI, scoring AI generated images, video, audio and interfaces against structured rubrics, and writing and debugging Python and JavaScript samples used to train and benchmark large language models. The habits from that work, clear criteria and repeatable tests, carry straight into his own software.
CT Business Spotlight
Every day Tony runs the CT Business Spotlight series on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, highlighting popular Connecticut local businesses. It keeps him close to what local owners care about and builds an audience for the businesses on the screens.
Studying and writing
Tony is pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science and plans to study law later. He also publishes new posts on the blog regularly, mixing practical guides for Connecticut small businesses with Python and SQL how tos and CompTIA study notes. Recent topics include a weekly marketing routine for local shops and five SQL queries that answer real business questions.
Working together
With the launch underway, the best fits right now are Connecticut businesses that want screen advertising and small, practical software projects. If that sounds like you, contact Tony Cantave, or read the FAQ and resume first.
